Your baby is getting stronger and preparing for life outside the womb! Now is a great time to start
discussing birth plans with your doctor and finalizing your hospital bag.
Mom’s Health Concerns
- Weight gain: You may have gained 13-17 kg
- Varicose veins and hemorrhoids may worsen due to
increased blood volume
- Mild swelling is normal, but sudden swelling should
be checked
- Tingling or numbness in hands (carpal tunnel
syndrome) may occur
- Your center of gravity shifts, increasing the risk
of falling – Be cautious!
Baby Activities
- Your baby is about the size of a Napa cabbage or
jicama (Mexican turnip), measuring 42 cm (16.5 inches) long and weighing 1.8-2 kg (4-4.5
lbs).
- Bones are hardening, but the skull remains soft for
an easier birth
- Lungs are almost fully developed, preparing for the
first breath
- Brain development is rapid, with new neural
connections forming daily
